Mexico Disbands Entire Police Force In Veracruz

Mexican officials sent the Navy in to patrol the major Gulf coast port city. The Veracruz state government said the decision is part of an effort to root out police corruption in the state's largest city. It is the first state to completely disband a large police department and use marines as law enforcers.
